What it costs to post a physician job.
Physician job boards price a posting in very different ways: per posting for a set number of days, by the month, by package with CV search bundled in, free with paid upgrades, or only by quote. The figures on this page are read from each board's own pricing page and come from the job board directory, so they change when the boards do.

What does one physician job posting cost?
Of the 19 boards in the job board directory, 9 publish a price for a single posting. Among those, the range runs from $150 for 90 days at HospitalRecruiting (job board directory, read October 25, 2026) to $2,400 for 30 days at ASCO Career Center (job board directory, read October 25, 2026). Length matters as much as the board, so compare prices for the same number of days.
Another 6 boards give a price only on request, including some of the best-known physician-focused sites, and 3 offer a way to post for free, sometimes only to certain employers or with less visibility than a paid listing.
How do job boards structure their prices?
A posting price is only the first line of a recruiting bill. Most boards sell a set number of days, so a search that runs longer means buying a second posting. Some charge by the month on a subscription instead. Packages bundle several postings, featured placement, or access to the board's CV database at a higher price, and one board in the directory charges for each introduction a candidate accepts.
When comparing, put every board on the same footing: the number of openings, how long each will run, and whether you need to search CVs rather than wait for applicants.

How physician job boards charge
| Pricing model | How it works | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Per posting | A fee for one opening, shown for a fixed number of days | How many days the price covers, and what a renewal costs. |
| Monthly subscription | A fee each month for postings while the subscription runs | Whether there is a minimum term, and how many openings it covers. |
| Package with CV search | Postings bundled with access to the board's candidate database | Whether you will actually search CVs, or only need applicants to come to you. |
| Free with paid options | A free posting, with paid sponsorship or upgrades | What the free post leaves out, and who may use it. |
| Quote only | A price agreed per employer, usually for a package or a year | The total for your openings and term, in writing, before comparing. |
How do you price a posting for your own opening?
The job posting cost comparison takes your specialty, the number of openings, how many days they will run and whether you need CV search, and prices the order on every board that carries the specialty, using the cheapest mix of each board's own posting lengths. Boards that sell only by quote are shown as asking for a quote, never as free.
Specialty boards run by medical societies reach a narrower audience, and the tool shows them only for the specialties they serve. A general board may be cheaper per posting but bring more applicants who do not fit.
What else does an open physician position cost?
Posting fees are usually the smallest part of filling a physician vacancy. The larger costs are the revenue the practice or hospital forgoes while the position is open, locum coverage to keep patients seen, and, if a search firm is used, its fee as a share of first-year pay.
The physician recruitment cost calculator puts those lines side by side for three routes, job boards alone, an agency, or both, with each published figure's source and date.
Questions to ask
- How many days will the search realistically take, and does the board price cover them?
- Do you need CV search, or will applicants come to you?
- Does the board serve your specialty, or reach physicians in general?
- What would a week of the vacancy cost compared with the posting fee?
