Directory

Locum tenens agencies, side by side.

Agencies describe themselves in much the same words. This table shows what each one states on its own site: which specialties and states it covers, what malpractice it provides, and how it pays the physician. None of them publishes its staffing rates for facilities.

Every agency on one table.

Sort by any column, or narrow the table by the way each agency charges facilities. A blank cell means the agency’s own pages do not say.

How we check prices.

Each fact was read on the agency’s own pages for physicians and for facilities on the date shown. Where an agency’s site does not state something, the cell says so instead of guessing. Agencies quote facility rates per assignment, so the table records how they charge, not a price.

Questions about locum tenens agencies.

Do locum tenens agencies publish their rates?

Not for facilities. 14 of the 15 agencies here quote each assignment and publish no rate. LocumTenens.com also runs a job board that facilities can post on for free.

Who pays for malpractice on a locum assignment?

Usually the agency. AMN Healthcare, Aya Locums, Barton Associates, CompHealth, Consilium Staffing, Hayes Locums and Weatherby Healthcare describe malpractice coverage on their own sites. The kind of policy matters: claims-made coverage needs tail coverage after the assignment ends, so ask whether tail is included and for how long.

How are locum physicians paid?

Most agencies pay the physician as an independent contractor, by the hour or the day. Alumni Healthcare Staffing: flat hourly rate as a 1099 independent contractor, Aya Locums: weekly direct deposit as a 1099 contractor; in California, PAs, NPs and CRNAs are W-2 employees, CompHealth: independent contractor, paid weekly by direct deposit; NPs and PAs are W-2 employees and Hayes Locums: a daily or hourly rate, usually as a 1099 contractor, as its FAQ explains locum pay.

How current is this information?

Every fact was read on the agency’s own site on October 25, 2026, and each one links to the page it came from. Prices are read again every quarter, and a fact older than ninety days is flagged until it is checked again. If a agency has changed its terms, tell us and send the page that shows it.
